Biography

Marcelo Vourakis, also known as "Salsicha", is a Brazilian singer who gained notoriety as one of the founding members and original lead vocalist of the reggae band Maskavo Roots (later known as Maskavo).

His musical journey began in Brasília, where he participated in the initial formation of Maskavo Roots in 1993. He was present on the band's self-titled debut album, released in 1995, which became a milestone in Brazilian reggae. The band's sound at that time mixed reggae, ska, and rock, with influences from the alternative circuit. Vourakis shared vocal duties with Joana Lewis during the group's early years.

In 1999, Marcelo Vourakis announced his departure from Maskavo, making way for Marceleza to join as the new lead vocalist. After leaving the band, Vourakis pursued other musical projects, including the formation of the band Supergalo with former Raimundos drummer Fred. His contribution to Brazilian music, especially in the reggae and alternative rock scene of Brasília, is well-recognized.
