Biography

Márcia Bulcão de Morais, born in Rio de Janeiro on July 30, 1963, is a Brazilian vocalist and educator. She was a pioneering member of the iconic 1980s band Blitz, alongside Evandro Mesquita, Fernanda Abreu, Ricardo Barreto, Antônio Pedro Fortuna, William "Billy" Forghieri, and Lobão. The band achieved massive success with their first single, "Você Não Soube Me Amar," and the album "As Aventuras da Blitz," solidifying their status as a pop culture phenomenon with their blend of light rock, humorous lyrics, and theatrical performances. Blitz even performed at the Rock in Rio festival in 1985.

After Blitz disbanded in the mid-1980s, Bulcão pursued further education, earning a degree in music from Uni-Rio in the 1990s. She has since worked as a music teacher in Rio de Janeiro. Currently, she is a member of the Djambo Trio, alongside Pedro Lima and Ricardo Barreto. This group focuses on highlighting the influences of African music within Brazilian repertoire, even incorporating songs in the Wolof dialect in collaboration with Senegalese musicians.

The Djambo Trio's repertoire pays homage to prominent MPB artists such as Chico Buarque, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, and Jorge Benjor. Their performances feature a dynamic fusion of Brazilian rhythms from across the country, including coco, maracatu, baião, frevo, embolada, samba, choro, and maxixe, all driven by Pedro Lima's pandeiro. Márcia Bulcão's melodious vocals combine with Ricardo Barreto's electric guitar to create a unique "ETNO-POP" sound. The group has also seen collaborations with various guest musicians, enriching their musical tapestry.
