Biography

Márcio Hilton Fragoso Borges is a Brazilian lyricist born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, on January 31, 1946. He is widely recognized as one of the main figures and a founder of the legendary Clube da Esquina collective, having actively participated in the creation of one of the most important movements in Brazilian popular music.

Growing up in a deeply musical family and being the second of eleven siblings, Márcio had direct influences at home, with his brother Marilton Borges serving as a major early reference. In his adolescence, upon moving to the Edifício Levy in the capital of Minas Gerais, he established fundamental friendships with neighbors like Wagner Tiso and Milton Nascimento, with whom he would forge celebrated and lasting partnerships in musical composition.

In addition to his vast body of work as a lyricist in partnership with Milton Nascimento and his brother Lô Borges, Márcio also stood out in literature with works such as "Os sonhos não envelhecem – Histórias do Clube da Esquina". Currently, he remains culturally active, residing in Belo Horizonte and serving as the creator and director of the Clube da Esquina Museum.
