Biography
Márcio Faraco is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist, and music producer born in Alegrete, Rio Grande do Sul, in 1963. His childhood was marked by constant relocations due to his father's military profession, which exposed him to various cultures and musical traditions of Brazil, ranging from choro and baião to samba and bossa nova. This rich sonic tapestry became the foundation for his original musical synthesis.
After years of living and working in Brazil, Faraco decided to move to Paris, France, in 1992, where he resides to this day. Despite the move, he maintained his strong connection to the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture, continuing to sing and compose in his native tongue. His music is frequently described as an intimate fusion of samba, bossa nova, Portuguese fado, and francophile traditions, featuring poetic lyrics and delicate melodies.
Márcio Faraco's international recognition came with the release of his debut album, "Ciranda", in 2000, via Universal Jazz. The record was a success, selling over 60,000 copies worldwide and establishing him as a creative and original voice in MPB. Throughout his career, he has released several critically acclaimed albums, such as "Interior", "Com Tradição", "Um Rio" (featuring Milton Nascimento), and "Cajueiro", cementing his space in the global music scene. He has performed in several countries, including France, Japan, the United States, and Canada.
