Biography
Márcio Tubino is a Brazilian saxophonist, flutist, percussionist, composer, and arranger born on March 27, 1963, in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. He moved with his family to Porto Alegre in 1969, where he grew up. Tubino has been based in Munich, Germany, since 1995, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the European jazz scene. His musical journey has been marked by collaborations with numerous renowned international artists, including Egberto Gismonti, Joe Zawinul, and Dusko Goykovich, among others. He has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, South America, and the USA.
Tubino's artistic output includes several albums, such as "ARTet" and "Quanticity." His project "ARTet" (meaning "a free formation for art") explores themes of global interconnectedness and the paradox of human existence. "Quanticity," created during the pandemic, reflects on the duality of being insignificantly small yet perceiving the world as everything. His music often blends jazz with Brazilian rhythms and melodies, creating a vibrant and rhythmically melodic sound, as noted by Jazz Zeitung.
Beyond his performance and composition work, Márcio Tubino also offers saxophone and flute lessons. He has been recognized for his ability to create atmospheres suitable for various events, from jazz festivals to private gatherings, with his saxophone adding warmth and sophistication, and his flute bringing lightness and finesse. His collaborations have also extended to projects like "Tukamama" with Martin Kälberer.
