Biography

Márcio Roberto Vieira Valadão was born in Belo Horizonte on November 24, 1947. Converted to Protestantism in 1966, he was ordained a pastor in November 1970 and assumed senior leadership of the Lagoinha Baptist Church in July 1972, when the community had around three hundred members, later expanding to hundreds of congregations in Brazil and abroad.

In addition to his pastoral work, he is widely known for being the father of singers and pastors Ana Paula Valadão, André Valadão, and Mariana Valadão, central figures in national contemporary Christian music. The Lagoinha Baptist Church achieved remarkable international projection through the praise ministry Diante do Trono, led by his daughter Ana Paula, and Márcio also stood out in communication by hosting the television program Profetizando Vida since the early 1990s.

Throughout his career, the pastor consolidated strong religious and media influence, being awarded the Tiradentes Medal by the State of Minas Gerais in 2018 and maintaining closeness with important figures in Brazilian politics. His musical and ministerial legacy is deeply connected to the history of gospel music in the country, engaging with major expressions of the genre such as Aline Barros and Fernanda Brum.
