Biography

Marcos Quinan is a multifaceted Brazilian artist born in Ipameri, Goiás, on March 24, 1949. His artistic journey is marked by diversity, working as a composer, producer, writer, visual artist, and playwright. Quinan also ventured into theater in Goiânia, where he joined the Agremiação Goiana de Teatro and participated in the administration of the Teatro Inacabado. He founded, alongside Paulo Roberto Vasconcelos, the "Companhia de Teatro do Autor Brasileiro" in the 1970s and, with Roseli Naves and Nilson Chaves, the "Gravadora e Editora Outros Brasis" in the 1980s. His cultural work extended to the Amazon, where he served as Executive Secretary of the State of Pará Culture Incentive Program and Advisor to the Presidency of the Fundação Cultural do Pará Tancredo Neves.

As a composer, Marcos Quinan has released several albums, including "Canção dos povos da noite" (1998), "Dentro da palavra" (2001), "Rio do Braço" (2002), "Abrigo para um violeiro andante" (2004), and "São José Diligente" (2005). His compositions frequently explore poetic and regional themes, featuring collaborations with renowned artists such as Eudes Fraga, Flavio Venturini, Jane Duboc, and Nilson Chaves.

In addition to his musical career, Quinan is the author of several books, such as "Sertão do São Marcos" (2000), "Sertão d'água" (2001), "Sertão do Reino" (2003), "Oração de floresta e rio e outros poemas" (2003), and "O povo do Belo Monte" (2004). His literary work, much like his musical output, reflects his deep connection with Brazilian culture, especially with the landscapes and knowledge of the sertão and the Amazon.
