Marcus Preto is a distinguished Brazilian music producer, artistic director, and journalist who has become a central figure in contemporary Brazilian music. Born in São Paulo, his career began in journalism at MTV magazine and Folha de S.Paulo, where he was instrumental in promoting the "new Brazilian music scene" that included artists like Criolo and Emicida. His transition into music production was serendipitous, beginning with his collaboration with Tom Zé on the "Tribunal do Feicebuqui" EP in 2013.\n\nPreto is perhaps best known for his extensive nine-year tenure as the artistic director for the legendary Gal Costa, overseeing her studio albums, live shows, and posthumous releases until 2022. His work is characterized by a bridge between different generations, having directed projects for established icons such as Erasmo Carlos and Alaíde Costa, as well as emerging talents like the band Bala Desejo and singer Jota.pê.
