Biography

Mariana Mendes Aydar was born in São Paulo on May 8, 1980. Raised in an artistic environment as the daughter of Mario Manga, a member of Premê, and Bia Aydar, a music producer, she had early exposure to the behind-the-scenes of music and established names such as Luiz Gonzaga. She began her career singing professionally in the 2000s, with an initial focus on forró, having been part of the group Caruá and toured internationally alongside Seu Jorge after periods of study at the Berklee School of Music and in Paris.

Throughout her career, she has released several acclaimed works that blend elements of MPB, forró, and Afro-Brazilian rhythms. Her 2011 album "Cavaleiro Selvagem Aqui Te Sigo" featured a partnership with maestro Letieres Leite, while later projects like "Veia Nordestina" further solidified her connection to northeastern culture and earned her a Latin Grammy Award in 2020. In addition, she has collaborated with numerous renowned artists from the national scene, such as Elba Ramalho, Chico César, and Lenine.

With a solid discography and a prominent presence in festivals and soundtracks, Mariana Aydar also stands out for her cultural activism in the preservation and renewal of traditional Brazilian genres. In 2024, she joined forces with Mestrinho to release an album dedicated to forró pé-de-serra, reaffirming her artistic versatility and her importance in the contemporary music scene.
