Biography

Mariana Baltar is a Brazilian singer, dancer, and actress born in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro. She began her artistic journey at a very young age and immersed herself in samba during her adolescence, working as a dancer and ballroom dance instructor for the Cia. Aérea de Dança at Circo Voador. Over a thirteen-year span, she toured internationally across the United States and Europe, performing in numerous shows and accompanying esteemed Brazilian musicians such as Jorge Ben Jor and Zeca Pagodinho. Her early career also included acting, notably featuring in the theatrical play Império directed by Miguel Falabella.

In 2006, Baltar released her debut album titled Uma Dama Também Quer se Divertir through the Zambo Records label. The record garnered positive critical reception and earned her a nomination for the Prêmio TIM de Música in the revelation category. Building on this momentum, she released her second album in 2010 under Biscoito Fino, featuring classic works by renowned composers like Assis Valente, Paulo César Pinheiro, Nei Lopes, and Wilson Moreira, alongside contemporary songwriters such as Thiago Amud and Edu Kneip. Her musical trajectory aligns her with the rich traditions of samba and MPB, keeping company with artists like Zeca Pagodinho and Jorge Ben Jor.
