Biography
Marilene Vieira is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, presenter, and radio host, primarily known for her work in children's music with a Christian theme. Born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, she began singing at the age of 11 in her local church, eventually becoming the official soloist. Her early involvement in music included accompanying Pastor Nilson Fanini on missionary trips across Brazil, performing in various public spaces and institutions. Vieira's professional career began in 1982 with the group Scala, and she launched her solo career in 1985 with the LP "Pequenas Flores," which benefited a nursery school.
Vieira gained significant recognition for her children's television programs, such as "Biblicando" on TVE and "Ser Criança com Marilene Vieira" on RBN. Her music and presentations often incorporated educational elements, biblical stories, and a distinctive style that earned her the nickname "Xuxa evangélica" (Evangelical Xuxa). She has released numerous albums in Portuguese and Spanish, expanding her reach internationally with performances in Italy and Switzerland. Her work is characterized by a focus on children's education and the propagation of Christian values.
With a career spanning decades, Marilene Vieira has become a notable figure in Brazilian gospel music, particularly for children. She has also ventured into radio hosting and, more recently, has been involved in political advocacy, running for federal deputy to address issues affecting children and youth. Her extensive discography and consistent presence in media have solidified her legacy as a pioneer in children's Christian music in Brazil.
