Biography

Marília Medaglia, professionally known as Marília Medalha, was born in Niterói on July 25, 1944. She began her artistic career in the 1960s performing in clubs in her hometown alongside musicians such as Tião Neto and Sérgio Mendes, soon expanding her work to theater stages and television.

In 1967, she achieved national recognition by winning TV Record's 3rd Festival of Brazilian Popular Music performing the song "Ponteio", composed by Edu Lobo and Capinam. In the following years, she solidified her importance in the MPB scene by participating in festivals, recording prominent albums, and sharing the stage with great names of Brazilian culture, such as Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho.

Throughout her career, the singer and songwriter moved with versatility between music and theater, joining iconic theatrical productions and releasing albums that marked the history of our music. Her discography includes memorable works, such as the album recorded in partnership with Vinicius de Moraes and Toquinho, and collaborations with acclaimed composers like Sueli Costa and Paulo César Pinheiro.
