Biography

Marília Soares Pêra was born in Rio de Janeiro on January 22, 1943, the daughter of artists who were part of Henriette Morineau's company. Involved with the performing arts since childhood, she initially worked as a dancer before standing out in high-profile theatrical musicals, portraying celebrated figures such as Carmen Miranda, Dalva de Oliveira, and Maria Callas throughout her multifaceted career.

In addition to her acclaimed career in theater, television, and film, Marília Pêra also made her mark in music, having recorded the LP Feiticeira with the Som Livre label in 1975. Her artistic versatility allowed her to move easily between dramatic acting, theater direction, and musical performance, establishing herself as one of the greatest interpreters of Brazilian culture.

Throughout decades of dedication to art, she worked with various exponents of the national cultural scene and was honored on important stages and festivals, such as the Gramado Film Festival. Marília Pêra passed away in her hometown on December 5, 2015, leaving an indelible legacy in the arts and music of Brazil.
