Biography

Marina Machado was born in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, on October 20, 1972. The daughter of Oswaldo Machado dos Santos and Rosélia Maria de Almeida Machado, she began her artistic journey studying lyrical and popular singing, initially participating in musicals such as "Hollywood Bananas" and "Na Onda do Rádio". In the 1990s, she joined the trio Zoombeedoo alongside Podé and Maurinho Nastácia, in addition to founding Companhia Burlantins and releasing works in partnership with Regina Spósito and Flávio Henrique. Her vocal versatility and immersion in varied rhythms brought her close to great names in Brazilian music, such as Hermeto Pascoal and Milton Nascimento, with whom she collaborated on tours and notable recordings.

Throughout her career, Marina established herself as one of the standout voices of Minas Gerais, receiving important awards such as the Troféu Pró-Música for the album "Baile das Pulgas". Her work also encompasses the research of Afro-Brazilian roots, such as the production of the demo-CD "Candombe da Serra do Cipó", which secured the inclusion of the genre in Itaú Cultural's Brazilian Musical Cartography. The artist has accumulated participations on albums by exponents of the Minas Gerais and national scene, including Tavinho Moura, Skank, Telo Borges, and Beto Guedes, in addition to having been part of the "Pietá" project alongside Milton Nascimento.

The year 2008 marked a turning point in her career with the release of the solo album "Tempo Quente", issued under Milton Nascimento's Nascimento label. The album featured heavyweight guest appearances such as Samuel Rosa and Seu Jorge, achieving significant media repercussion, including the inclusion of the track "Grilos" on the soundtrack of a Rede Globo telenovela. With a discography that spans albums like "Marina 6 horas da tarde" and "Quieto um pouco", Marina Machado remains a reference in contemporary Minas Gerais music, conversing with different strands of MPB and national pop.
