Biography

Marina Vello, also known as Marina Gasolina, is a Brazilian singer who initially studied literature at the Federal University of Paraná before achieving recognition in the music industry. She rose to prominence in 2005 as the lead vocalist of the band Bonde do Rolê, bringing a unique energy to the group's fusion of electronic music and funk. In 2007, the band released their acclaimed album With Lasers, which was recorded in London and gained international attention, featuring tracks in video games, commercials, and television series like Ugly Betty.

Following her departure from Bonde do Rolê at the end of 2007, Vello continued to pursue diverse musical projects and collaborations. She was prominently featured in the 2009 music video for "Dansa med vapen" by the Swedish group Maskinen. In 2012, she teamed up with Adriano Cintra, formerly of Cansei de Ser Sexy, to form the musical duo Madrid.

Throughout her career, Vello has been associated with various independent and electronic-infused genres, drawing primary inspiration from rock bands like Hole. Her work has included notable singles and covers, such as a 2011 rendition of Gretchen's "Freak Le Boom Boom" with remixes by João Brasil. Her artistic journey highlights her versatility as a vocalist within Brazil's alternative electronic and indie scenes.
