Marinho Boffa, born Mário Boffa Jr. in 1960, is a distinguished Brazilian pianist, arranger, composer, and conductor originating from São Paulo. Over the decades, he has built a reputation for his sophisticated approach to instrumental music and his versatility as a collaborator across various Brazilian genres. His work often bridges the gap between traditional MPB and modern jazz, showcasing a refined technique and a deep understanding of Brazilian harmonies.\n\nThroughout his career, Boffa has worked alongside some of the most respected names in Brazilian music. One of his standout professional milestones was the 1996 project "Chico Buarque, Letra & Música," a collaborative effort with the renowned sambista João Nogueira. He also contributed to the tribute album "Luiz Eça – Reencontro," celebrating the legacy of the influential pianist Luiz Eça, and has participated in recordings with musicians such as Paulinho Trompete and Christian Galves.\n\nIn addition to his studio and stage work, Boffa's personal life was part of the Brazilian public eye during his marriage to actress Tássia Camargo from 1985 to 1996. Despite personal tragedies, including the loss of a young daughter, he remained active in the music scene, releasing solo projects like "Paulistano" (2007) and "Mario Boffa Jr. – Trio e Orquestra" (2003), which reflect his mastery of both intimate trio formats and larger orchestral arrangements.
