Biography

Mariozinho Rocha, born in Rio de Janeiro on June 10, 1949, is a prominent Brazilian music producer and composer. His journey in music began in the 1960s, when he worked as a pianist at gatherings in the Clube Campestre alongside musicians such as Guto Graça Mello and Luizão Maia. Later, he joined Grupo Manifesto as a composer and vocal arranger, actively participating in the artistic scene of the time alongside names like Guttemberg Guarabyra and Gracinha Leporace.

Throughout his career, he held prominent positions in the phonographic industry, working as artistic director for the Musidisc record label and as a music producer for multinationals such as EMI-Odeon and Polygram. His production skills led him to work with significant exponents of MPB and national pop, including Milton Nascimento, Gal Costa, Paulinho da Viola, and the group Roupa Nova, in addition to producing advertising jingles in the 1970s.

As a composer, his works were recorded by great interpreters of Brazilian music, such as Elis Regina, Nara Leão, and Cláudia Telles, in partnerships with names like Marcos Valle and Tavynho Bonfá. Solidifying his importance in national media, he worked as the musical director for Rede Globo from 1989 until 2016, leaving a deep mark on the history of television and soundtracks in Brazil.
