Biography

Maskavo is a renowned Brazilian reggae band originally formed in Brasília in 1993 under the name Maskavo Roots. The group emerged during a vibrant period for Brazilian rock and alternative music, influenced by the burgeoning scene of the capital alongside acts like Raimundos and O Rappa. After relocating to São Paulo in 2000 and shortening their moniker, the band solidified their signature sound, blending traditional Jamaican reggae with Brazilian pop sensibilities. Throughout their career, they have released numerous albums and DVDs, captivating audiences across Brazil and internationally with hits like "Um Anjo do Céu".

Over the decades, Maskavo has undergone several lineup changes while maintaining a strong presence in the national music scene. The band's journey includes notable collaborations with prominent Brazilian artists such as Jorge Ben Jor, Samuel Rosa of Skank, and Seu Jorge.
