Biography

Massacration is a Brazilian comedy heavy metal band originally conceived in the early 2000s by members of the comedy troupe Hermes e Renato on MTV Brasil. The group began as part of a sketch in the show "Histórias Ocultas do Além do Outro Mundo" before officially releasing their breakthrough music video for "Metal Massacre Attack (Aruê Aruô)" in 2004. Heavily influenced by Spinal Tap, the band is known for performing in exaggerated heavy metal attire, featuring Bruno Sutter in a prominent falsetto voice alongside bandmates like Fausto Fanti, while playfully mocking metal subculture and stereotypes.

The band's line-up combines fictional personas with actual musicianship, occasionally collaborating with prominent figures from the Brazilian metal scene such as Igor Cavalera of Sepultura and Ricardo Confessori of Angra. Following the tragic passing of guitarist Fausto Fanti in 2014 and a subsequent hiatus, the group returned to active status in 2016 with several lineup and instrument adjustments. Their humorous lyrics blend Portuguese with comically broken English, parodying legendary acts like Black Sabbath, Metallica, and Iron Maiden.

Throughout their career, Massacration has released celebrated comedic heavy metal anthems and albums, most notably their debut record Gates of Metal Fried Chicken of Death. They continue to entertain audiences with their satirical approach to music, maintaining a dedicated following across Brazil as "a banda da galera". Their enduring legacy remains rooted in bridging the worlds of Brazilian television comedy and heavy metal music.
