Biography

Mateo Piracés-Ugarte is a musician, producer, composer, beatmaker, arranger, and acoustic guitarist with triple nationality: Mexican, Chilean, and Brazilian. He lives in Brazil and has built his musical career focusing on Latin American rhythms and musicalities. Mateo is one of the founders of the band Francisco, el Hombre, formed in 2013 in Campinas, São Paulo, alongside his brother Sebastián Piracés-Ugarte. The band, which also includes Brazilian members, is known for blending musical elements from both countries and other parts of Latin America, resulting in songs sung in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. They self-define as a "pachanga folk" group, a fusion of batucada and Latin music.

In his solo career, Mateo released the album "Neurodivergente" in 2025, where he addresses themes such as mental health, addiction, grief, and affection, reflecting his personal experiences with a diagnosis of type 1 bipolar disorder, depression, and borderline traits, in addition to being a recovering addict. The album, which blends Latin pop and electronic beats, features unreleased compositions in Portuguese and Spanish. Mateo authored all compositions and arrangements, in addition to playing all the instruments on the project.

Mateo Piracés-Ugarte has also worked with various artists from the continent, such as Sidney Magal, Moral Distraída, and Cuatro Pesos de Propina. He is also the founder of Estúdio Conchinha, where he produces his own bands and other artists. His work in Brazilian music is marked by versatility and the pursuit of cultural and social connections through art, as demonstrated in projects like the reimagining of the song "Caminando, Caminando" by Víctor Jara, in partnership with Gabriel Aragão.
