Biography

Maurício Carvalho de Barros was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1964 and established himself in the Brazilian music scene as one of the founders of the iconic rock band Barão Vermelho. The initiative to create the group arose after he and Guto Goffi attended a Queen performance, leading to the choice of the name in 1981 alongside Dé Palmeira and Frejat, in addition to the later joining of Cazuza and the support of Ezequiel Neves. Throughout his trajectory with the band, he became notable not only as the keyboardist of the early albums and co-author of hits like Por Você and Amor pra recomeçar, but he also played a fundamental role in the musical production of works by artists such as Frejat.

In addition to his remarkable tenure with Barão Vermelho and the group Buana 4, Maurício expanded his artistic work into production and songwriting, participating in albums by prominent names in national music. His versatility led him to collaborate with various creators and move across different genres of rock and MPB. Over the years, he maintained his relevance in the musical scenario by balancing side projects with the production of solo records by long-time partners.

In 2022, he took an important step in his individual career by releasing the solo album Não tá fácil pra ninguém, a project that featured special guest appearances by major exponents of Brazilian culture, such as Arnaldo Antunes and Fausto Fawcett. Through his long artistic journey, Maurício Barros has cemented his name as one of the most respected musicians and producers in national rock.
