Biography

Maurício Mattar Kirk de Souza, better known as Maurício Mattar, was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro on April 3, 1964. Nephew of the renowned pianist Pedrinho Mattar, he built a multifaceted career as an actor, singer, and songwriter, standing out in both television and the Brazilian recording industry.

In the 1980s, he began his journey in television drama by participating in high-profile productions, such as the soap operas Vereda tropical and Roque Santeiro. Alongside his acting, he developed his musical career, releasing several studio albums over the years and consolidating his name in the national artistic scene, with his personal and professional trajectory frequently followed by the media, including his relationship with singer Elba Ramalho.

In addition to his strong presence in soap operas, his discography features notable works such as albums released in the 1990s and 2000s, as well as the live recording 20 anos de Musica. Mattar is also known for his practice of martial arts, holding a black belt in jiu-jitsu.
