Biography

Mayra Maldjian is a DJ, beatmaker, musical researcher, and communicator from São Paulo, born in 1985. She began her musical career in 2008, dedicating herself since then to projects aimed at boosting the female presence in music, with a special focus on the rap and R&B genres. Her work extends beyond the turntables, also encompassing musical production and communication.

She is known for being part of the female rap and neo-soul collective Rimas & Melodias, formed in 2015, where she works as a DJ. The group, which also features artists such as Alt Niss, Drik Barbosa, Karol de Souza, Stefanie, Tássia Reis, and Tatiana Bispo, aims to deconstruct molds and strengthen the female presence, especially black women, in hip hop and society. Mayra was also part of female DJ collectives such as Applebum and Rap Hour Crew.

Throughout her career, Mayra Maldjian has participated in several relevant projects, such as the release of the documentary "Yzalú - Rap, Feminismo e Negritude" in 2018, the year she was also nominated for Best DJ at the Women's Music Event and DJed at the opening of rapper Nicki Minaj's show in Brazil. In 2019, she was a curator for Red Bull Music Pulso and a beatmaker/musical producer on the "Escuta as Minas" project by Spotify Brazil. Her musical research and activism solidify her as an important figure in the Brazilian music scene.
