Biography

Mayrton Villa Bahia is a Brazilian music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and educator born in Niterói in 1956. Throughout his career, he has worked with major record labels such as EMI and Polygram before eventually establishing himself as an independent producer through his own label, Radical Records. He has left a significant mark on the Brazilian rock and MPB scenes by producing numerous iconic albums.

He is best known for his extensive collaboration with the legendary rock band Legião Urbana, producing six of their most celebrated records, including Dois, As Quatro Estações, and O Descobrimento do Brasil. In addition to his work with Legião Urbana, Bahia has produced albums for renowned artists such as Elis Regina, Adriana Calcanhotto, and Lobão, shaping the sound of several generations of Brazilian musicians.

Aside from his production work, Bahia has dedicated a substantial part of his life to education. He serves as a professor and coordinator for the Phonographic Production Technologist course at the Estácio de Sá University campus in Maracanã, passing on his vast industry knowledge to future generations of audio professionals.
