Biography

MC Guimê, born Guilherme Aparecido Dantas Pinho, is a prominent Brazilian singer and songwriter widely recognized as one of the major figures in the "funk ostentação" subgenre. Rising from humble beginnings in Osasco, he transitioned from working in a grocery store to achieving massive national success with hits like "Tá Patrão" and "Plaquê de 100". Unlike traditional funk carioca that focused on the realities of favela life, his music pioneered themes of wealth, luxury cars, designer clothing, and jewelry, reflecting the aspirations of working-class youth.

Throughout his career, Guimê collaborated with numerous notable Brazilian artists across different genres, including the rapper Emicida on the hit track "País do Futebol" and the duo Bonde da Stronda. His mainstream appeal further expanded with television appearances, high-profile collaborations with international acts like Soulja Boy, and his debut studio album Sou Filho da Lua. In 2023, he participated in the reality television show Big Brother Brasil 23.

Despite his commercial achievements, Guimê's career has also seen controversy, including legal issues regarding drug possession and his expulsion from Big Brother Brasil 23 following allegations of misconduct. His personal life, particularly his high-profile relationship and marriage to singer Lexa, has frequently been the subject of intense media attention in Brazil's celebrity landscape.
