Biography

MC Jacaré, born Pedro Henrique Mendes Mesquita in Goiânia in 2003, is a prominent Brazilian funk singer, songwriter, music producer, and arranger. Growing up in the Urias Magalhães neighborhood in the northern region of Goiânia, he showed an early interest in music by learning to play the acoustic guitar and other instruments. During his adolescence, he began crafting his own compositions using an old computer with rap beats, eventually publishing his work on the internet around 2016.

His career gained significant momentum in 2019 with parodies such as "Pra Melhorar Meu Dia" and "Implorou pra Sentar," which helped establish him as a notable funk artist outside the traditional Rio de Janeiro-São Paulo axis. In 2020, he achieved nationwide fame and viral success with his hit "Comprei um Lança," inspired by Rita Lee's classic "Lança Perfume." This breakthrough was followed by further chart-topping hits like "Vento Forte" and collaborations with artists such as Xand Avião, solidifying his unique blend of funk with regional influences.

Continuing his artistic evolution, MC Jacaré released his debut EP, Sempre Fui Assim, through Som Livre in 2021, featuring music videos recorded in his hometown. He later expanded his stylistic range by incorporating elements of eletrofunk and paying homage to his roots with the single "Pequi de Goiás." Through his innovative production and distinctive style, he remains an important figure in the contemporary Brazilian funk scene alongside peers like Rita Lee and Xand Avião.
