Biography

Jackson Augusto Bicudo de Moraes, known professionally as MC Jack, is a pioneering Brazilian rapper, DJ, and music producer born in São Paulo. He began his artistic journey in 1984 as a breakdancer at the historic São Bento subway station, which served as the birthplace of hip hop culture in the state. His early involvement laid the foundation for his future contributions to the genre, cementing his status as a key figure in the history of Brazilian rap.

In 1988, MC Jack gained national recognition by participating in the landmark compilation album Hip-Hop Cultura de Rua, produced by Nasi and André Jung. Contributing tracks such as "Centro da Cidade" and "Calafrio," he helped establish the first record dedicated exclusively to Brazilian rap. His song "Centro da Cidade" became a classic and was later covered by Sampa Crew, making him the first Brazilian rapper to have a work re-recorded by another artist in the genre.

During the 1990s, he expanded his artistry into turntablism and production, eventually becoming a two-time Brazilian DJ champion. His competitive success culminated in a historic fourth-place finish at the DMC World DJ Championships in Italy during the late 1990s, elevating Brazil's presence in international turntablism. Throughout his career, he has worked alongside prominent figures like Thaíde and DJ Hum, released his debut solo album Meu Lugar in 2001, and continued to influence new generations of artists through workshops and ongoing musical projects.
