Biography

Caio Alexandre Cruz, widely known as MC Lan or Lan Cruz, was born in Diamantina and moved to São Paulo during his childhood. Before establishing himself in music, he had experiences with rock, blues, and rap, having even worked as a radio announcer in his teens and tried to open a show for the group 509-E, formed by Afro-X and Dexter. After a period of estrangement and personal difficulties that included imprisonment and living on the streets, he resumed his artistic trajectory in 2016 by adopting the name Lan and recording his first hit, "Cala Boca e me Mama", in the ABC Paulista region.

Rapidly, the singer rose as one of the biggest names in funk ousadia, a genre marked by humorous and sexual references. His popularity exploded nationally with the release of resounding hits like "Rabetão", in addition to prominent partnerships with MC WM on tracks such as "Sua Amiga eu vou Pegar" and "Grave Faz Bum". This strong impact on the charts and streaming platforms secured him contracts with major record labels, such as Warner and Kondzilla Records, consolidating his role of relevance in the Brazilian urban scene.

Throughout his career, MC Lan demonstrated artistic versatility by moving through different sounds and expanding his collaborations. In 2025, he surprised the public and critics by releasing the album V3NOM Vol. 1 - Eclipse, in which he ventured into nu metal and featured heavy-hitting guest appearances, including the renowned Brazilian singer Criolo. This capacity for renewal reaffirms his importance in national music, engaging with both the roots of São Paulo funk and international rock influences.
