Biography

MC Marcinho, artistic name of Márcio André Nepomuceno Garcia, was born in Duque de Caxias, Rio de Janeiro, on November 11, 1977, and passed away on August 26, 2023. Raised in Bangu and influenced by his samba-musician father and singer uncle, the artist emerged onto the music scene in the 1990s with the release of the striking composition "Rap do Solitário". Throughout his career, he established himself as one of the great exponents of funk melody, charting explosive hits such as "Glamurosa" — inspired by host Xuxa —, "Princesa" and "Garota Nota 100", working alongside important producers and names from the scene like DJ Marlboro and MC Cacau.

Despite facing various health setbacks over the years, including a severe car accident in 2006 and recurrent hospitalizations, MC Marcinho kept his legacy alive in national urban music. He recorded important albums such as Valeu Shock and Falando com as Estrelas, besides recording the DVD Tudo é Festa at Circo Voador, consolidating partnerships with artists like Sandra de Sá and MC Sapão. His cultural contribution to carioca funk remained indelible, earning him posthumous tributes and the eternal recognition of fans and fellow professionals.
