Biography

Anderson Sabino, better known as MC Neném, is a carioca funk pioneer who emerged in the Brazilian music scene in the early 90s. His career took off in 1992 when he formed the duo "Neném e Mascote" with his friend Fábio, considered the first MC duo in Brazil. Together, they scored hits like "Rap do Valão", "Rap da Live", and the impactful "Rap da Daniela Perez", which earned them an appearance on the show "Fantástico" and concerts all over the country. The song "Rap da Daniela Perez" was especially notable for being the authorized version by author Glória Perez, moving the writer with the tribute.

In 1994, the duo parted ways amicably, and MC Neném pursued a solo career, establishing himself as one of the most popular MCs in Rio de Janeiro. In 1995, he re-recorded "Rap da Live" under the title "Rap da Rocinha", which became an anthem and started playing on various radio stations. Other hits of his solo career include "Rap da Cabeça", which consecrated his individual trajectory, and "Eu Te Quero". His musicality, inherited from his musician father, led him to have a strong sense of production, often arriving at the studio with complete ideas for his songs.

MC Neném is recognized for his ability to portray the reality of communities in his lyrics, addressing social and cultural themes with authenticity. His influence on carioca funk is undeniable, paving the way for many artists who came after. He remains active in the music scene, participating in events and projects that celebrate "old-school" funk, keeping alive the memory of a genre that shaped Brazilian urban culture.
