Biography
MC Soffia, stage name of Soffia Gomes da Rocha Gregório Correia, was born in São Paulo, SP, on February 22, 2004. Raised in a family active in the Black movement in the Raposo Tavares region, she had early contact with debate circles, cultural workshops, and hip hop events alongside her mother, cultural producer Kamilah Pimentel. This family and peripheral environment shaped her artistic vision and political engagement, allowing her to begin composing her own songs in early childhood.
Her musical career gained early visibility with compositions focused on female and Black empowerment, addressing urgent themes such as the fight against racism, sexism, and social prejudices. Throughout her trajectory, the artist has made appearances at events of major national reach, such as the opening ceremony of the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, where she performed alongside singer Karol Conka, as well as participating in important awards like the 2023 Yes to Racial Equality Award (Prêmio Sim à Igualdade Racial), sharing the space with names like Linn da Quebrada and Liniker.
Recognized internationally for her cultural and social impact, MC Soffia was included in the prestigious BBC list of the 100 most influential women in the world in 2017. Even facing resistance and episodes of online racism, the rapper has consolidated her voice as one of the main references of the new generation of Brazilian hip hop, inspiring young girls to value themselves and occupy prominent spaces in music and society.
