Biography

Thiago da Silva Mercês, known professionally as MC TH, is a prominent Brazilian carioca funk singer born in Duque de Caxias in 1993. Before dedicating himself fully to music in 2013, he worked as a barber and eventually sold his own barbershop to fund his emerging career in the funk scene. After gaining local recognition with tracks like "Vidro Fumê" and "Trem Louco", he achieved nationwide fame in 2015 with the massive hit "A Mamadeira tá Cheia".

Following his breakthrough, MC TH became one of the most commercially successful artists in the genre, reaching a milestone in 2017 as the highest-paid funk act in Brazil with a monthly revenue estimated around 600,000 reais while performing roughly a hundred shows a month. His musical style draws heavily from the legacy of artists like Mr. Catra, whom he counts as a primary influence, and he has collaborated with notable figures in the Brazilian urban music industry such as Filipe Ret and Dennis DJ.

Throughout his career, MC TH has released a variety of successful singles and projects, including his 2016 live DVD "MC TH: O Rei Delas" and music videos directed by prominent producers like KondZilla. His massive hits have transcended regional boundaries, with songs like "A Mamadeira tá Cheia" even crossing over into the axé rhythm during the Bahia Carnival. His enduring impact cements his place as a defining figure of modern carioca funk.
