Biography
The Meninos do Morumbi Artistic Group is a social and musical project founded in 1996 by maestro Flávio Pimenta in the city of São Paulo. The initiative was born with the objective of offering children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability, especially from underprivileged communities, an alternative for personal development and citizenship through music and the arts. The group, which today serves thousands of youths, freely offers courses in singing, dancing, percussion, drums, cavaquinho, double bass, keyboard, acoustic guitar, in addition to sports activities such as jiu-jitsu and capoeira. Afro-Brazilian music and drum beating are central elements in the project's methodology, which seeks to rescue identity and promote transformative values.
Throughout its trajectory, Meninos do Morumbi have already performed on various national and international stages, sharing space with renowned artists such as Jennifer Lopez, John Mayer, Sepultura, Jorge Ben Jor, Toquinho, Nando Reis, and the USP Symphony Orchestra. The group has also performed the National Anthem at large-scale events, such as the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Maestro Flávio Pimenta's role is fundamental to the success of the project, which, in addition to artistic training, offers psychological, pedagogical, medical, and dental monitoring to its members.
The Meninos do Morumbi project demonstrates the power of music as a tool for social transformation, positively impacting the lives of thousands of youths and their communities. The initiative stands out for training not only talented musicians and dancers, but also conscious citizens prepared for the future. The group continues to inspire and offer opportunities, proving that art can be a powerful agent of change.
