Biography

Born in Nazaré da Mata, Pernambuco, known as the "capital of maracatu baque solto," Anderson Miguel da Silva Adão was immersed in the rhythms of his region from a young age. Following a family tradition, he began participating in musical rehearsals and gatherings at the age of eight, trying his hand at verses. Shortly after, still a child, he took on the role of contra-mestre under the guidance of veterans Mestre Aderito, his father, and Mestre Zé Flor. His musical journey began with Maracatu Cambinda Brasileira, the oldest Baque Solto group still active, boasting a century of history, and later he was part of Sonho de Criança.

At fifteen, Anderson earned the title of Mestre and took command of Maracatu Águia Misteriosa, leading the group to championship titles in the carnival of 2019 and a second place in 2020. He is recognized by specialized critics as one of the most modern exponents of maracatu, skillfully integrating the culture of Pernambuco's Zona da Mata with the urban culture of the capital, earning him the nickname "The Neymar of Maracatu." His artistic expression extends beyond maracatu, encompassing ciranda and other popular cultural manifestations, always seeking to bridge tradition with contemporary influences.

Mestre Anderson Miguel's work is characterized by a deep respect for the roots of popular culture, while simultaneously embracing innovation. He incorporates elements of contemporary music, such as guitar, trumpet, and modern percussion, into his performances and recordings, creating a unique sound that resonates with both older and younger generations.
