Biography

Metá Metá is a prominent jazz-rock band originating from São Paulo, founded in 2008 by vocalist Juçara Marçal, guitarist Kiko Dinucci, and saxophonist Thiago França. The group's name translates to "three in one" in the Yoruba language, reflecting their eclectic approach to diverse musical genres and African-influenced sounds with economical, melody-driven arrangements. Over the years, they have established themselves as one of the most prestigious and representative acts in contemporary Brazilian music.

Following their self-titled debut in 2011, the band released their critically acclaimed sophomore album, MetaL MetaL, in 2012. This record earned multiple nominations at the Prêmio Multishow de Música Brasileira in 2013, ultimately winning in the shared music category, and the band secured another "Version of the Year" award at the 2015 ceremony. Their collaborative spirit was further highlighted in 2015 when they performed the show "Clube da Encruza" alongside Passo Torto, which was lauded by O Globo as one of the top ten shows of the year.

The trio continued to push artistic boundaries with their third studio album, MM3, released in 2016 and ranked by Rolling Stone Brasil as the 7th best Brazilian album of that year, alongside earning a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Portuguese Language Rock or Alternative Album in 2017. That same year, Metá Metá composed the original soundtrack titled Gira for the renowned dance company Grupo Corpo, paying homage to Exu. Through these projects, artists like Juçara Marçal, Kiko Dinucci, and Thiago França have profoundly shaped the modern landscape of Brazilian alternative music.
