Michael Sullivan, born Ivanilton de Souza Lima in Recife, is one of the most successful and prolific singer-songwriters and producers in Brazilian popular music history. Rising to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, he built an extraordinary legacy both as a solo artist and as half of the legendary songwriting duo Sullivan & Massadas alongside partner Paulo Massadas. His infectious melodies and commercial instincts shaped the sound of Brazilian pop, MPB, and romantic radio hits for decades.

Throughout his career, Sullivan collaborated with and wrote for a stellar roster of Brazilian icons, including Tim Maia, Gal Costa, Fagner, and Roupa Nova. His compositions broke records, such as his solo hit "My Life" and timeless anthems like "Um Dia de Domingo." In addition to his massive success in adult contemporary and black music genres, he revolutionized the Brazilian children's music market in the 1980s, creating hits for artists like Xuxa and founding groups such as Trem da Alegria.

With an induction into the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame and thousands of gold and platinum records to his credit, Sullivan remains a towering figure in Latin American music.
