Biography
Milton Santos de Almeida, known as Miltinho, was born in Rio de Janeiro and began his artistic career in the 1940s. He was a member of several prominent vocal groups of the era, such as Anjos do Inferno, Namorados da Lua, Quatro Ases e Um Curinga, Milionários do Ritmo, and Cancioneiros do Luar. With the group Anjos do Inferno, he even went on international tours accompanying Carmen Miranda, marking the early steps of his long career in Brazilian music.
In the 1960s, Miltinho launched his solo career with the release of the album "Um Novo Astro". He became widely known for his nasal voice and for his style focused on "teleco-teco" sambas and romantic songs, achieving massive success with the hit "Mulher de 30". Throughout his career, he recorded over a hundred albums, participated in television programs, and collaborated with various prominent figures of our music, such as Chico Buarque, Elza Soares, and Martinho da Vila.
Even with the commercial decline of his musical genre in the 1970s in major capitals, the singer maintained intense activity in countryside cities and continued to record with important names of samba and MPB. In 1998, he celebrated his 70th birthday with the release of the album "Miltinho Convida", bringing together artists like João Nogueira, João Bosco, and Luiz Melodia. Miltinho passed away in Rio de Janeiro in September 2014, leaving an invaluable legacy for Brazilian samba.
