Hilton Rodrigues dos Santos, known professionally as Miltinho Rodrigues, was a Brazilian singer and songwriter who left an indelible mark on the sertanejo music scene. Born in Goiânia, Goiás, on May 2, 1941, Miltinho displayed a musical inclination from a young age, often singing with his family. His professional career began in 1958 when he signed his first contract with Rádio Nacional do Distrito Federal, where he performed romantic songs, including in Spanish.

Miltinho Rodrigues was a pivotal figure in the modernization of Brazilian sertanejo music, particularly in the 1960s. He formed numerous duos throughout his career, most notably with Tibagi (Oscar Rosa), forming the highly influential duo Tibagi & Miltinho. Together, they were pioneers in fusing Brazilian sertanejo with Mexican and Latin American musical influences, incorporating elements like guitars and orchestras into their arrangements. This innovative approach helped shape the sound of sertanejo music, making them stand out as visionaries in the genre. Their hit "Taça Vazia," a bolero, exemplifies this successful blend of styles.

Beyond his work with Tibagi, Miltinho Rodrigues also had a successful solo career, releasing numerous albums and solidifying his reputation as "O Trovador do Brasil" (The Troubadour of Brazil). His compositions and performances resonated with audiences, contributing significantly to the rich tapestry of Brazilian popular music. Miltinho Rodrigues passed away on January 9, 2021, leaving behind a legacy of beloved songs and a profound impact on the sertanejo genre.
