Biography
Milton de Oliveira was a prolific Brazilian composer, born in Rio de Janeiro on January 25, 1916. His musical career, which extended until his death on December 12, 1986, was marked by intense activity in composing sambas and marchinhas, especially for carnival.
His most notable partnership was with Haroldo Lobo, with whom he composed numerous hit songs, including "Pra seu governo", which reached first place in the Rio de Janeiro carnival in 1950, performed by Gilberto Milfont. Oliveira was also known for his "lobbying" strategies to get his songs played on the radio and recorded by labels, which earned him both recognition and controversy in the musical scene of the 1940s and 1950s.
In addition to Haroldo Lobo, Milton de Oliveira collaborated with other important artists such as Djalma Esteves, Max Bulhões, J. B. de Carvalho, and Gilberto Milfont. His work, which includes hundreds of registered compositions, solidified his name as a relevant figure in the history of Brazilian popular music, especially in the genres of samba and carnival marchinhas.
