Biography

Milton Carlos Muniz Guedes is a Brazilian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Rio de Janeiro. Growing up in Brasília, he learned to play the recorder in a children's choir and taught himself harmonica and guitar before mastering the saxophone. He formed his first band, Pôr do Sol, at the age of eighteen, which eventually led to theatrical collaborations with artist Oswaldo Montenegro. Known for his exceptional versatility, Guedes is also celebrated as one of Brazil's finest whistlers, contributing signature whistles to numerous film scores and television soundtracks.

In 1988, Guedes joined the touring band of iconic Brazilian pop-rock artist Lulu Santos, performing together for nearly a decade, including an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival. After launching his solo career in 1997, he scored national radio hits such as "Sonho de Uma Noite de Verão." As a prolific composer and session musician, he has contributed thousands of recorded solos on saxophone, flute, and harmonica, alongside writing hits for major acts like Fat Family and collaborating closely with popular artists such as Sandy & Junior and Roupa Nova.

Throughout his extensive career, Guedes has released several solo albums, including Cinema and Certas Coisas, while maintaining a strong presence in Brazilian television by writing and performing themes for popular telenovelas. His diverse musical style bridges pop, MPB, and funk, often incorporating guest appearances from prominent Brazilian instrumentalists like Hamilton de Holanda. He continues to be an in-demand collaborator and touring musician within the national music scene.
