Biography

Rinaldo Oliveira Amaral, popularly known as Mingau, was born in São Paulo on September 3, 1967. He built a solid trajectory in the history of national rock, standing out initially as the guitarist for the band Ratos de Porão between 1982 and 1985, participating in fundamental recordings such as the albums SUB and Crucificados pelo Sistema. Over the years, he expanded his activity in the Brazilian music scene, passing through important punk and underground formations such as 365, Inocentes and Olho Seco.

In the 1990s, Mingau assumed the position of official bassist for Ultraje a Rigor, a group with which he remained for over two decades. Alongside his work with Roger Moreira in Ultraje a Rigor, he founded the pop band Vega in 2000, in which he acts as guitarist and vocalist, in addition to having produced remarkable works for Brazilian rock, such as CPM 22's debut album, A Alguns Quilômetros de Lugar Nenhum. His versatility also led him to collaborate with several heavyweight names in national music, including Nasi, Edgard Scandurra, Léo Jaime and Dinho Ouro Preto.

In September 2023, the musician's career and life suffered a dramatic moment when he was the victim of a shooting attack in the Rio de Janeiro city of Paraty, resulting in a severe head injury. After receiving emergency medical care and being transferred by helicopter to São Paulo, Mingau underwent complex intracranial surgeries, mobilizing fans, friends and road partners in chains of solidarity for his recovery.
