Biography

Molejo is a traditional Brazilian pagode musical group, formed in 1988 in the Méier neighborhood of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The original lineup featured prominent artists such as Anderson Leonardo, Andrezinho, Claumirzinho, Lúcio Nascimento, Vadinho, and William Araújo, establishing itself as one of the leading exponents of romantic and humorous pagode of the 1990s.

The ensemble achieved enormous national prominence throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, landing memorable hits such as "Brincadeira de Criança", "Dança da Vassoura", "Paparico", and the mega-hit "Cilada". With top-selling albums, such as the record "Família" (1998) which earned a platinum certification, the group knew how to mix a contagious rhythm, humorous lyrics, and strong popular appeal, remaining active and influential alongside names like Zeca Pagodinho and Exaltasamba.

Throughout its trajectory, Molejo underwent line-up changes, including the return of Andrezinho in 2017 and the release of works such as the album Molejo Club (2016). In April 2024, the group suffered an irreparable loss with the passing of its charismatic lead singer Anderson Leonardo, victim of cancer, leaving an eternal legacy in the history of Brazilian festive music.
