Biography

Momento Quatro was a Brazilian vocal quartet formed in 1967. The group gained prominence after accompanying Edu Lobo and Marília Medalha at the III Festival da TV Record in 1967, performing the song "Ponteio". The original lineup consisted of Zé Rodrix, Ricardo Villas (also known as Ricardo Sá), Maurício Maestro, and David Tygel. These artists would go on to have significant individual careers in Brazilian music.

Following their appearance at the festival, Momento Quatro recorded a double EP and a full LP, "Momento 4uatro," released in 1968 by Philips Records. The album featured a diverse repertoire, including original compositions and songs by renowned artists such as Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Marcos Valle, and Edu Lobo. The arrangements were by Rogério Duprat, with vocal arrangements by Maurício Maestro. The group's career was cut short when Ricardo Villas was arrested by the military dictatorship and subsequently exiled to France.

After the dissolution of Momento Quatro, its members pursued successful paths in music. Zé Rodrix joined Som Imaginário and later formed the trio Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra, also embarking on a solo career. Ricardo Villas, after his exile, formed a duo with Teca Calazans. Maurício Maestro and David Tygel went on to form the influential vocal group Boca Livre with Claudio Nucci and Zé Renato. Momento Quatro's sole LP is considered a rare and valuable piece of Brazilian music history.
