Biography

Moptop is a Brazilian indie rock band formed in 2003 in the city of Rio de Janeiro, originating from former members of the group DeLux. The classic lineup features Gabriel Marques on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Curi on guitar, Daniel Campos on bass, and Mário Mamede on drums. The group quickly stood out in the national independent scene of the 2000s, becoming notable for opening major international tours in Brazil and for a sound influenced by the alternative rock of that era.

After gaining projection with demos like Moonrock and signing with Universal Music, the quartet released their self-titled debut album in 2006, landing hits such as the track O Rock Acabou. The second record, Como se Comportar, arrived in 2008 with production by Paul Ralphes and a more polished sound. During this period, the ensemble shared stages and participated in important audiovisual projects with artists such as Forfun, Fresno, Hateen, and NX Zero, while also establishing themselves as one of the main genre references at the time.

Following a long hiatus that began in 2010 due to the wear and tear of touring, the group surprised fans by announcing their return to the stage and the studio. In 2025, the musicians released the album Long Day, marking a new phase in the trajectory of the band from Rio de Janeiro. Throughout their history, Moptop engaged with the renewal of Brazilian independent rock alongside contemporary names.
