Biography

Moracy do Val is a Brazilian journalist and producer, born in São Paulo on July 18, 1937. He began his career in journalism in the 1960s, working for newspapers such as "Notícias Populares" and "A Última Hora." His early work in journalism provided him with a unique perspective on the cultural landscape of Brazil, which he would later leverage in his production career.

In the 1970s, do Val became instrumental in the discovery and management of the iconic Brazilian band Secos & Molhados. He was the producer of their first album, released in 1973, which became a massive success and is considered a landmark in Brazilian popular music (MPB). His involvement with Secos & Molhados extended from 1972 to 1974, a period of intense cultural effervescence in Brazil. His role in shaping the band's early career highlights his knack for identifying and nurturing talent.

Beyond his work with Secos & Molhados, do Val has had a diverse career in the arts and media. He has been involved in theater, music production, and even executive production for films, such as "O Menino da Porteira" (2009). In 2019, his life and career were chronicled in the book "Moracy do Val Show," written by Francisco Ucha and Celso Sabadin, underscoring his significant contributions to Brazilian culture.
