Biography

Morcego, whose real name is Rodrigo, is a multifaceted artist with a consolidated career in the Brazilian music scene, especially in the blues and rock genres. Born in Recife, Pernambuco, he stands out as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, having been a reference in Northeastern blues and rock for over 25 years. His trajectory is marked by participation in highly relevant projects for the formation and promotion of these musical styles in the region.

Throughout his career, Morcego has had the opportunity to exchange experiences with national and international blues and rock icons, working as a sideman for artists such as Celso Blues Boy, Flávio Guimarães, JJ Jackson, Bruce Ewan, Nasi (IRA!), Danny Vincent, and JJ Thames. He also joined the band Má Companhia, where he developed a partnership with the iconic Pernambucan artist Lula Côrtes, accompanying him as an instrumentalist and collaborating on compositions. Following Lula Côrtes' passing in 2011, Morcego directed the opening show at FIG (Festival de Inverno de Garanhuns) in tribute to the artist.

In 2017, Morcego founded the "Blues do Nordeste" project alongside three other guitarists, with the aim of spreading blues with a Brazilian and Northeastern accent. His solo discography includes albums such as "El Mocambo" (2009), "Café Preto Jornal Velho" (2013), and "Mamífero Alado" (2024), the latter acclaimed by specialized critics. In his compositions, Morcego addresses themes of daily life, bohemian culture, and experiences in Recife, with a sound marked by blues and rock with a Pernambucan accent.
