Biography
Isolda Corrêa Dias, artistically known as Morgana, was born in São Paulo on August 2, 1934. She began her career as an opera singer, achieving success for seven years before dedicating herself to popular music in 1958, adopting the stage name Morgana Cintra, later shortened to Morgana. She also became known as "A fada loura" (The blonde fairy).
Her first major success in popular music was "Serenata do adeus", recorded in 1958 with the Copacabana label. Other notable hits include "Mais brilho nas estrelas", "Hino ao amor" (a version of Edith Piaf's "Hymne à l'amour"), "Arrependida", "Canção da tristeza", "Conselho", "Este seu olhar", "Não pense em mim", and "E a vida continua". In 1961, Morgana won the Troféu Imprensa for best female singer, cementing her position in the Brazilian music scene. Her voice also provided the theme song for the TV Tupi soap opera "O Direito de Nascer" in 1965.
In 1973, Morgana abruptly decided to end her musical career at its peak to dedicate herself to a pizzeria chain. Sadly, her life came to a tragic end on January 4, 2000, in São Paulo. Her legacy, however, remains a milestone in the history of Brazilian popular music, with performances that moved generations.
