Biography

Maurício Alberto Kaisermann, known professionally as Morris Albert, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter who achieved international fame with his 1974 hit song "Feelings." Born in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 7, 1951, Albert began his musical career in the early 1970s, performing with various bands as a singer and guitarist. He adopted the anglicized stage name Morris Albert in an effort to break into the international market, a strategy common among Brazilian artists at the time.

"Feelings" was released in 1974 on his debut album of the same name and quickly became a global phenomenon, topping charts in Brazil and reaching the top ten in numerous countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom. The song's success led to over 10 million records sold worldwide and earned Albert a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. Despite the song's immense popularity, it later became the subject of a plagiarism lawsuit, with a French composer successfully arguing that "Feelings" had borrowed heavily from his earlier work. This led to shared songwriting credits.

Although "Feelings" remains his most recognized work, Morris Albert continued to release music throughout his career, including hits like "She's My Girl" and "Conversation." He has also been recognized for his contributions to Brazilian music, with his songs being covered by numerous international artists.
