Born in Ilha do Governador, he has emerged as one of the most significant revelations of carioca samba, earning the respect of established sambistas and solidifying his place among the new generation of artists in the genre.
Mosquito's passion for samba was ignited in his childhood through frequenting samba circles with friends in his hometown. This early immersion led him to perform in local bars and forge connections within the music community. With nearly two decades of continuous activity, he has become a respected vocalist and composer, known for his irreverent lyrics that offer unique perspectives on the daily lives of Brazilians.
His musical references include legendary artists such as Bezerra da Silva, Zeca Pagodinho, Fundo de Quintal, Adoniran Barbosa, and Martinho da Vila. Mosquito has shared the stage with numerous renowned musicians, including Jorge Aragão, Moacyr Luz, Arlindo Cruz, Arlindo Neto, Dudu Nobre, Diogo Nogueira, Pretinho da Serrinha, and Caetano Veloso. While identifying strongly with samba raiz and partido alto, he also possesses a deep appreciation and knowledge of other samba variations.
