Biography

Moyseis Marques is a prominent Brazilian singer, songwriter, musician, and producer born in Juiz de Fora and raised in Vila da Penha, Rio de Janeiro. Deeply connected to samba, forró pé-de-serra, and MPB, he began his professional career in 1999 performing in bars across Rio's North Zone. He was a founding member of bands such as Casuarina, Forró na Contramão, and Tempero Carioca before embarking on a successful solo career with his self-titled debut album in 2007. Throughout his career, he has emerged as a key talent from the Lapa music scene of the 2000s, taking his art across Brazil, Europe, and the United States.

Over the decades, Marques has built an impressive discography with multiple albums and DVDs, earning prestigious nominations including the Prêmio da Música Brasileira and a Latin Grammy nod for Best Samba/Pagode Album, eventually winning the PMB in 2024 for the collective project Desengaiola.
